POOR BOXING
HANSON BEATS UNDERWOOD
In a boxing contest which was very disappointing to a large crowd Tommy Hanson (Wellington), 9st 131b, outpointed Ernie Underwood (Auckland), 9st 3Jlb, at the Wellington Town Hall last night. Underwood showed no inclination to mix it, and the display was almost wholly limited to efforts by Hanson to catch up on his dancing opponent. Some spirited boxing, however, was seen in the amateur preliminaries. Results of the amateur bouts are:—R. Lindsay (Tracy's), 7st lib, beat A. Bae (Railway), 7st 61b. on points; L. Davey (Hedberg's), Bst, beat J. Leary (Galley's), 7st 121b, on points; L. Domney (Railway), 9st 81b, beat Ti Fox (Galley's), 9st 121b, on points; R. Hawes (Blenheim), Bst 41b, beat T. Lewis (Hedberg's), Bst 111b, on points; L. Phllp (Railway), Bst 21b, beat F. Gardner (Air Force), Bst, on points; W. Luddon (Hedberg's), list, beat F. Southea (Railway), list 31b, on points. Messrs. P. W. Woods and W. P. Sommervllls were the judges. Captain P. G. Thomson beinsr the referee for the preliminaries, and Mr. P.. Stone for the professional contest.
