ORDERS FROM U.S.A.

POLITICAL POSSIBILITY FOR CANADA

(Rec. 2 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 4. Major W. D. Herridge, former Canadian Minister at Washington, in a speech at a Service Club luncheon today, said that Canada must have a National Government or the day might come when the United States would have to intervene in Canada's affairs. "We may begin to take orders from Washington. That would be hateful to Washington, but it would have no choice." he said. "Washington well knows what happens to a leaderless democracy. It has France in mind. Washington cannot afford to have another France in North America."
