(N.Z.E.F. Official News Service.)
CAIRO, April 17.
Powdered milk and butter are most popular items in parcels received by [prisoners, said a senior officer of the i New Zealand Medical Corps repatriated from Italy. Fruit is plentiful in Italy, and therefore tinned fruit is not so "welcome. There is no chocolate in 'Italy, and that, and honey and cheese | are very valuable additions to the diet. Woollen socks and underwear are eagerly looked for. Many boots are dilapidated, and footwear is urgently needed. Books are increasingly available, and occupational training, lectures, and the study of languages are filling in the men's time. Their treatment is not unreasonable, and many of the commandants did all that wa's possible to help the prisoners.
