SUPPORT FOR FREE AMBULANCE

"The ladies quite put the men to shame in the matter of collecting funds," said a member of the Wellington Free Ambulance Board today when the board was discussing the various receipts. Most of the collecting, it was stated, was done by ladies, while the men on the other hand did the administrative j work. The support accorded the organisation in the suburbs and various districts was commented upon by Sir Charles Norwood, who remarked that tiie organisation was more popular than ever. The suggestion was made that if every sports body in and around Wellington followed the example set by some ladies at Kelburn, who netted £8 by a croquet afternoon, the board's funds would benefit very considerably.
