HOME GUARD AND E.P.S.
When approving the purchase for the medical section of the E.P.S. of 50 haversacks with first-aid equipment costing £37 10s, the Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, contrasted the treatment of the Home Guard with the much more generous treatment of the E.P.S. Thousands of pounds, he said, had been.spent on equipment for. the E.P.S., a purely defensive organisation, but recently, when the Home Guard made a request for haversacks, members had been told that they must purchase their own.: ■ . ;
