Marshall, the American Army C THf °f S^ ff' returned t0 L°ndo£ y The world-wide scope of their discussions is indicated by the fact that the Soviet Ambassador, M. Maisky, and the Australian High Commissioner Mr Stanley Bruce, called on Mr. Hopkins this morning. Mr. Hopkins has been specially concerned for some months past with the dispatch of supplies to Russia. With the addition of British supplies, Russia will be able to face the German onslaught with several new armoured divisions, complete with air support.
General Marshall continued his talks all day with the British Service chiefs. He has had several conversations in recent ( days with Lord Louis Mountbatten.
There is*special satisfaction at this stage of Anglo-American collaboration that Mr. Winant, United States Ambassador, is returning to London. Rumour had given him a position in Washington, but he would be greatly missed in London.
