CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT FORECAST

Indications of German pressure against Marshal Petain are increasing.
Marcel Deat, who is known to be a leading Paris quisling, in a speech which was broadcast repeatedly today by Berlin radio, declared that France would find herself at the crossroads in the next few hours. She should sign the Anti-Comintern Pact and send a whole division to Russia.
Signor Farinacci, in Rome, told Italians to show France neither pity nor weakness.'
Berlin »political authorities, according to a Stockholm newspaper, forecast a change in the Government at Vichy this week.
In the meantime M. Laval is trying to persuade Marshal Petain to clarify the position of the Government.
It is reported from Berne that traffic between occupied and unoccupied France has been halted.
