A.R.P. IN LONDON

BIG IMPROVEMENT MADE

(Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 13,

The authorities of the City of London have used the air-raiding lull to make a comprehensive improvement of the A.R.P. services.

Particular attention has been given to shelters, which are now more numerous. All are equipped with steel bunks. First-aid facilities have been vastly improved. Doctors are undertaking regular night duty, including inspections of shelters which are being used at present, in order to ensure that the health of those taking shelter is unimpaired.

The pulpits, screens, fonts, altar tables, bells, and even organs have been removed from many city churches, in view of the possibility of renewed raiding.
