AMERICANS' NEED

300,000 PILOTS FOR

VICTORY

(Rec. 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 13. Colonel Eddie Rickenbaeker, the American flying ace, in the Great War, addressing pilots on Mitchel Field today, said: "This war will last a minimum of five years barring miracles, and there is the possibility of it lasting ten years, and since no navy can function effectively without superiority or control of the air, which also goes for land forces, we will need at least 300,000 pilots to achieve victory—loo, ooo instructors, and 200,000 combat pilots."

Colonel Rickenbacker has just completed a nation-wide tour of inspection and • instruction at all army air force stations at the request of General Henry H. Arnold, Chief 'of the Army Air Force.
