CHIANG'S VISIT

CONFERENCE ON WAR

NEW YORK, April 13. The Chungking correspondent of the United Press states that when Marshal Chiang Kai-shek visited the Burma front he conferred with the British commander, General Alexander, and the American General Stilwell regarding measures to be taken to strengthen the defending troops. The visit has heightened Chinese hopes that drastic measures will be forthcoming to halt the Japanese advance northward.
