ROLE IN FIGHTING

(Rec. noon.) RUGBY, April 13. Asked in the House of Commons about the part taken by Indian troop's in operations in Burma, the Secretary of State for India, Mr. L. S. Amery. said that obviously no detailed statement could be made. He could say, however, that "a considerable proportion of our forces in Burma consists of Indian Army formations and units representative of many classes, and that the Indian Air Force is also represented.

"They have been fighting continuously under extremely difficult circumstances from the very beginning of the Japanese invasion. From all reports both services have rendered a very good account, of themselves." Mr. Amery added that the Royal Indian Navy hafl also played a part with the light forces in the Bay of Bengal protecting communications.—B.O.W.
