BOWLING CHAMPIONS
EASTBOURNE RINK
Good and consistent play in the Wellington Bowling Centre's champion of champion fours brought honours to the Eastbourne team by a comfortable margin on the Wellington green yesterday afternoon. The run-ners-up, Khandallah, put up a good fight, but the Eastbourne team was too solid and their comparatively youthful skip led them to victory. Each member of the team played excellent bowls, Fleming in particular being a strong support as the heads grew. The form displayed by the Eastbourne team in the semi-finals during the morning had made them the favourites, but a number in the numerous "bank" of observers believed that the older Khandallah skip woufd be hard to beat. Eastbourne soon showed superiority, however, although the game was made interesting by steady draw play with some good running shots. The teams and results were as follows:—M. Meo, W. P. Archer, S. Fleming, LA. Johns (Eastbourne), 29; D. E. McKay, P. Cutforth, H. Bradshaw, F. W. Bradshaw (Khandallah). 14.
