OBITUARY
MRS. E. LLOYD
The death occurred yesterday in Masterton of Mrs. Elizabeth Lloyd, of Wellington and Christchurch. Mrs. Lloyd, who was in her ninety-second year, was born in Lower Hutt and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stratford. Mr. Stratford was a pioneer surveyor employed by the New Zealand. Land Company, under the Wakefield settlement scheme.
Mrs. Lloyd lived in Wellington with her husband, Mr. James McGregor Lloyd, New Zealand's first copper-plate engraver, till 1887, when she and her husband moved to Christchurch. After Mr. Lloyd's death 40 years ago, Mrs. Lloyd returned to Wellington, and latterly moved to'Masterton. She was a keen worker for the Wellington Early Settlers' Association. She is survived by two sons, Messrs. P. Lloyd (Christchurch) and H. Lloyd (Adelaide), and three daughters, Mesdames W. McGowan (Wadestown), F. McMillan (Auckland), and W. Jacobsen (Masterton). There are 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and six. great-great-grandchildren.
