WAR EXPENSES FUND
Interest-free loans and donations to the War Expenses Account now total £2,737,000. Recent contributions, which were acknowledged today, include the following:—J. S. Butler, Hastings, £500; J. C. Hope, Palmerston South, £400; L. C. Marchant, Ngatea, and C. H. Chapman, Hokitika, £200 each; H. S. Trowell, Cambridge, £100; Miss J. R. Hulse, Cambridge, and N. E. R. Nilson, Auckland, £50 each.
After the raid the family went to look at the damage. One bedroom was si ittered, but there v/as still a roof over their heads, and as the night was wet they decided to lie down and wait
fc_ morning. Sp they did, sleeping soundly till someone discovered an unexploded bomb in the shattered bed-
room!
