PLANE PRODUCTION

NEW WORKS COMMITTEE

SYSTEM

(Rec. 1 p.m.)

RUGBY, Feb. 20,

The Ministry of Aircraft Production is encouraging the works committees in factories controlled by it so that the managements can take work people into their confidence to hear their views on production problems.

The Minister said: "We hope that the new form of works committee will have greater scope than the old form of committee, and -ye are anxious for all ideas on production to be fully discussed with the managements. I think that a great co-operative movement in the Aircraft Ministry may result." He added, that he hoped to get into the industry more and more women, who day by day were taking on more complex work. If it had not been for women they would never have got anything like the production they had. —8.0. W.
