PACIFIC MAIL LOST
The loss of mail by enemy action was announced by the PostmasterGeneral (Mr. Webb) today. The mail consisted of letters, newspapers, and parcels from Canada. The dates of posting were approximately November 10 to 26 in-, elusive. It is also probable that some mails from the United States were lost at the same time.
blackout on the coast the lamp has not been burning for the past year. It was intended to build a new lighthouse at Puysegur and materials for its erection and electric lighting equipment have been assembled at Bluff and Puysegur Point. Puysegur Point is at the entrance to Preservation Inlet and is usually the first land sighted by passengers from Melbourne to Bluff. Mails arrive every fortnight by boat from Riverton.
