Consultations are in progress between the British Ambassador to Washington and the United States Government on the matter of the calling up for national service of British citizens residing in the territory of the United States.

The Foreign Under-Secretary, Mr. Richard Law, stated in reply to a question in the House of Commons today that the present position of British subjects residing in the United States is that those between the ages of 18 and 65 must register, and those between 20 and 45 are liable for service in the United States forces.— 8.0.
