ANNIVERSARY DAY AT AUCKLAND

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Anniversary Day was observed today a; a partial holiday. There were no bread or meat deliveries and most shops were closed. The trading banks, legal offices, and Customs Department remained open.

The overtime and holiday suspension order issued by the Government resulted in some factories working but others were closed.

At the Eden Park cricket ground the Auckland representative cricket team played The Rest and at the Stanley Street courts the Auckland Provincial Tennis Championships were continued. The anniversary regatta is to be held on Saturday.

The weather this morning was showery and unsuitable for picnics and beach outings.
