TWO DIVISIONS
SENIOR CRICKET IN WELLINGTON
A division of the senior cricket grade in Wellington into two is to be made after the first round of games is completed next Saturday. This decision was made by the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association last night. The first division will comprise the six leading teams, and in the second division will be the other five teams, with the St. Patrick's College Old Boys eleven, which will be promoted from the second grade. Hospital will be promoted from third grade to second.
The chairman, Mr. J. D. Howitt, reported that a strong Wellington team was available for the match with Auckland, at Auckland, on February 6, 7, and 9. The team would be announced as soon as it was known whether all the members chosen could make the trip. The Auckland Association would then be advised as to how many Wellington players would have to be billeted. Mr. Howitt was appointed manager of the team, and if he is unable to make the trip Mr. L. J. Brabin is to act as manager.
The withdrawal of the Air Force team from the senior competition was formally accepted, and it was decided that all points scored against Air Force would have to be dropped. This means that Kilbirnie and University each have to lose five points.
