SCHOOLS HARD HIT
Minister's Comment
The schools of the Dominion had already been hard hit by the callup of men for military service, said the Minister of Education (Mr. Mason) today, and he expected that the last call-up would claim a good many more. The schools, like others, would have to do the best they could under the circumstances, he added.
When he was asked if there bad been a good response from married women ex-teachers to fill vacancies caused by the enlistment of men, the Minister said that he did not know what the figures were, but education boards were securingl as many suitable teachers as they could. Many married teachers had helped during the last war and he believed man£ would do so again.
