CABLES TO DUTCH EAST INDIES

; CANBERRA. January 6. I The Postmaster-General, Senator W. P. Ashley, announced that the press cable rates between Australia and the Netherlands East Indies are being reduced from 2£d to a penny a word as a result of the subsidy of lid which the Government is granting.

The object is to increase the facilities for ready communication with the Netherlands East Indies.
