DEVELOPING IN RUTHENIA

LONDON, January 6,

Many persons were killed or wounded during demonstrations at Vucov, in Carpathian Ruthenia, formerly eastern Czecho-Slovakia, which the Hungarians occupy. The demontrations were caused through the requisitioning of food by special squads, ■and gendarmes and troops fired on the protesting people. Guerrilla warfare'is developing in Ruthenia. Partisans stopped a Hungarian military train, put the engine out of action, and unloaded ammunition, food, and winter clothing. Another group blew up nine petrol tankers.
