THANKS EXPRESSED
SIR CHARLES FERGUSSON
Sir Charles Fergusson, a former I Governor-General of New Zealand, still remembers the Dominion with affectionate regard. This he indicates in a letter to the New Zealand High Commissioner in London (Mr. W. J. Jordan). The letter was written by Sir Charles as patron of the Ayrshire War Relief Fund to express his thanks for a gift of £100 to this fund from the money sent to London last year by the National Patriotic Fund Board on behalf of the people of New Zealand for the relief of distress caused by enemy action. In his letter Sir Charles states: "It is difficult to find words adequate to express my thanks to you for this j generous gift—another of the many instances of kindness and consideration which my wife and I have received from the Dominion in the past." The allocation to the Ayrshire War Relief Fund and also another of £100 to the Homes for Little Boys in Kent were made subsequent to the .main distribution of last year's relief money from the Dominion. The Homes for Little Boys in Kent is an, institution which was "founded in 1864, and is where boys of all denominations are ( received in infancy, fed, clothed, educated, taught a useful trade, and equipped for life. Quite a number of boys who were trained in farming at Flock House in New Zealand under the auspices of the New Zealand Sheepowners' Acknowledgment of Debt to i British Seamen Fund scheme came j from these homes. 'The homes suffered t rather severely from bombing. i
