LIFE-SAVING

NATIONAL EVENTS OFF

It has been decided, In view of present conditions, to cancel the New Zealand junior and ladies'^ surf and lifesaving championships which were -to have been held in Wellington this season. The-decision has been made after conferences between' thb council of the national organisation.arid the;executive committee-of the Wellington Surf As^ spciation,. to^which body the holding of the championships had been allotted.

While it was recognised that the activities of the association were rhpre in the nature of community service rather than of a sporting -nature, it was felt by the conference-that; in view of the fact that so many of the members and officials were5 busy with national services of various.kinds, it would be better, for this year at least, to forgo the holding of thd championships as other national organisations had done.
