HOMESTEAD SUFFERS

(P.A.)'NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Extensive damage was done to the homestead of Mr. ■J. Cooper, on the Opunake-Mahoe Road, six miles from Stratford, when it was hit by falling pine trees that were struck by lightning. The trunks were broken just above ground level and the branches penetrated the wall of the house in several places, besides tearing off spouting, smashing windows; and damaging the roof. Nobody was hurt. A flash of lightning struck the wall of business premises in Devon Street, New Plymouth. . '
