CARS AND TRUCKS
HOME GUARD AND E.P.S.
WORK
Regulations designed to facilitate the loan of cars and trucks for the use of the Home Guard and for E.P.S. purposes were gazetted last night in the Transport Legislation Suspension Order, 1941 (No. 3). This order paves the way for owners of cars- and trucks who are members of the Home Guard or the E.P.S. to use their vehicles for those services, and to make a small charge to cover the cost of benzine. It also allows local bodies to use light trucks for the same purpose without having to pay full licence fees if "E" plates are used. ■* The regulations also provide that where vehicles are used for Home Guard or E.P.S. services and a small charge to cover running costs is made by the private owner, the additional third-party insurance which would normally be necessary in such circumstances as well as other restrictions which would apply in connection with driving licences shall not apply. Trailers attached to Home Guard or E.P.S. cars will not be required to carry the blue light normally required.
