The new Commander-in -Chief of , the Eastern Fleet, Admiral Sir Tom Phillips, has held an important post lat the Admiralty for over 18 months, and when it was announced a few | days ago that changes at the Admiralty would mean his return to sea. it was generally accepted that the First Sea Lord, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Dudley Pound, would be only too willing to release his very able as- j sistant for a command of the first im-1 portance
