LONDON, November 25,

Mr. W. C. Bullitt, former United States Ambassador to Russia and France, has been appointed to represent America in the Near East.

President Roosevelt said today that Mr. Bullitt would probably visit areas around Libya, in the neighbourhood of the Nile and Red Sea, and possibly Palestine, and would return and report to him.
