NEW OFFICER IN CHARGED

One o£ the most popular and efficient members of the Auckland detective staff, Detective-Sergeant P. J. Raider, has been transferred to Wellington as officer in charge of the Police Gazette. By reason.of his quiet," painstaking methods Mr. Nalder has earned a reputation in Auckland for thorough, conscientious work.

His connection with the work of crime detection in Auckland extends # over nearly 20 years and thousands of inquiries have passed through his hands. He has, a sound knowledge of criminal law and police procedure. Mr. Nalder has played a prominent part in all the major cases dealt with in the courts in Auckland in recent years; . : :

In 1934-35 he was attached to the cpecial staff of police officers who accompanied the Duke of Gloucester on his Australian and New Zealand tour.

Mr. Nalder joined the police force in Wellington in May, 1921, and was sent to Auckland for duty. Less than a year later he was transferred to the plain. clothes staff and in 1925 his appointment as a detective was confirmed. He was promoted to the rank of detective-sergeant in August of .1934.
