"TRUSTEES OF PUBLIC PURSE"
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In view of Mr> Sullivan's statement " as trustees of the public purse we must guard the public interest, when addressing the New Zaalanc Manufacturers' Federation. 1 should like to ask by what right the Government can take upon itseit'. as trustees ;i the public purse, to invest public moneys in commercial pursuits. 1 understand private trustees are limited by law to trustee securities when looking for avenues of investment, and it' so. I consider the Government should keep to its only purpose, which is governing, or the same privileges ought to be extended to private trustees, by law.—l am, etc..
