RETURN TO CIVIL LIFE
"Rehabilitation" in its accepted sense of reinstating the men and women of the fighting Services into civil life fell within the province of the Government, and it. was a responsibility which the Government could not and did not in any way desire to pass on to patriotic organisations, said vhe Minister of Internal Affairs .(Mr. Parry.) in opening the national conference of patriotic bodies today.
Mr. Parry said that the question of rehabilitation would come prominently before the conference. For want of a better name, the work had been referred to at the 1940 conference of patriotic bodies as "rehabilitation." a word which, .it seemed to him, had embarrassed all concerned ever since. Mr. Parry expressed the hope that a word or phrase would be found that would more clearly contrast the respective responsibilities of the Government and the patriotic organisa-
