STRIKE AVERTED
U.S. RAILWAY WORKERS-
WAGE INCREASE GRANTED
LONDON, November 19,
The efforts of President Roosevelt have prevented the threatened railway strike.
A Philadelphia message reports that an agreement has been signed between the Pennsylvania railway authorities and representatives of the railwaymen's union providing for an increase in wages affecting 45,000 men.
. The President is also taking steps to bring about a settlement in the coal strike.
