NO SERVICE APPEALS
OTAGO EDUCATION BOARD
GRADE 2 AND 3 RESERVISTS
(P.A.)
DUNEDIN, November 19
The attitude of the Otago Education Board towards appealing for teachers who have been classified grade II and grade 111 for military service was clearly defined at the monthly meeting of the board today.
It was explained that in . general grade II men were temporarily unfit and grade 111 men unfit for overseas service. Most of these reservists, however, were liable to be called up for home service.
The point was whether such men would be better employed in the schools than in clerical or stores work in the Army, but the board decided that it would not make appeals of any kind.
