THE V.M.C.A.
"FATHER AND SON" NIGHT
The annual "father and son" night of the V.M.C.A. was held last evening. The programme included an address by Mr. Bryan O'Brien, in 'which''the value of. physical welfare" was stressed. First aid demonstrations were given by the V.M.C.A. cadet division of the St. John Ambulance, the model aero club' displayed flying models, and the Island Bay boys' group showed its skill in "pyramids." A community sing was led-'by :Mr. J. L. White,- recitations were given by Dick Marsderi, and.some intriguing magic was shown by Mr. Stoft.' Several films.were also shown.
Prizes were presented to P. Shaw, H. Avery, B. Remmers, B. GiffordMoore, J. Allison, G^ Milne (2),. I. Anderson, W. Cameron, K. Backhouse, R. Grinlinton, D. Hazlewood, B. Gibson, and D. Batty. Badges were also presented to 14 boys, including Sergeant D. Small, St. John Ambulance cadet.
Mr. R. T. Wright was in the chair, ■and the accompanist was Mr. M. Rogers. The evening concluded with supper served by the boys' department ladies' auxiliary under Mrs. H. E. Brooker.
