THRUST AT BURMA ROAD?
(Rec. 2 p.m.) v NEW YORK, October 31. Japan is reported to be massing troops in IndoChina for an, attack on the Burma Road and also possibly for so^me move against Thailand, says the Shanghai bureau of the United Press. Dispatches from Chungking and diplomatic reports from Hanoi, Indo-China, state that extensive military preparations are apparently designed to strike against the AngloAmerican supply line. The Chinese Press urges immediate Anglo-American action.
The National Broadcasting Corporation's Manila correspondent states that there is a persistent report, which cannot, however, be confirmed, that Japanese forces have entered Thailand from Indo-China.
Viewing the Japanese attitude as influenced by the belief that Germanywill defeat Russia, "Pei*tinax," writing for the North American Newspaper Alliance, says that Japan really believes a Hitler victory would make it possible for her to reach her goals and keep clear of danger.
