The 1630-ton United States destroyer Kearny, which was torpedoed on November 17 while on patrol duty 350 miles south-west of Iceland. Eleven members of the crew are missing and 10 are wounded, two critically.
Pilot Officer T. W. McC. Leckie, R.N.Z.A.F., killed in an aircraft accident when serving overseas with an R^A.F. fighter squadron. He was a son of Mrs. I. Leckie and the late Mr. Frank Leckie, of Heretaunga.
