EMPIRE PRISONERS IN CRETE

LONDON, October 30,

The War Office announced today that only 23 British and Empire officers and 943 other ranks' were still held prisoner in Crete in September. Their condition appeared to be satisfactory. This latest figure shows a big reduction in the number of prisoners on the island. The men are gradually being transferred to Germany. In Greece itself, 600 men are left in a hospital near the Piraeus.
