FIRST ANNIVERSARY
ITALIAN ATTACK ON GREECE
AXIS LANDS MARK DATE
LONDON^ October 28,
Today is the anniversary of Italy's attack on Greece last year, and the King of the Hellenes broadcast to his people.
A tribute to the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in the Greek campaign was broadcast by the Greek Under-Secretary of Information.
In Axis countries anniversaries have also been celebrated. In Rome, the chief of the Nazi organisation abroad stood by the side of Mussolini at a ceremony which marked the nineteenth anniversary of the "March on Rome." In a speech today, Goebbels said the German people must work "as ■ never before."
"Your wives must sometimes stand for hours before the vegetable shops," he said. "Often the usual glass of beer is not to be had, nor is the customary cigarette, but we are constantly thinking how we can relieve this burden."
