RAID ON R.A.F. AERODROME^
(Rec. 11 a.m.)
RUGBY, October 7.
An Air Ministry communique states: "Yesterday afternoon a squadron of enemy bombers escorted by fighters attacked an aerodrome used by the R.A.F. wing on the Russian front. The enemy were at once engaged and driven off by our fighters, which destroyed three JU 88's without loss to themselves. Nearly all the other enemy bomb'ers were damaged, several so seriously that it is unlikely that they reached their base. One aircraftman was slightly injured by a bomb fragment, but no damage was done to the aerodrome.—B.O.W.
