(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 1.30 p.m.) REYKJAVIK (Iceland), Oct. 6. The Battle of the Atlantic Is entering a crucial period, writes Drew Middleton, of the Associated Press. A great onslaught by German submarines, comparable in scope with that made in March and April, is well under way. There is no complacency among the naval officers and merchant captains here. All regard the situation as most critical. It is believed that 600 submarines are operating in the. Atlantic plus 200 Focke-Wulfe Kurriers and Condors for observation and bombing. Despite the increasing U-boat losses, the Germans have been maintaining (heir undersea fleet at full strength. *
