GREEK WARFARE

GUERRILLAS ACTIVE

FAMINE STALKS OVER

EUROPE

NAZIS FEED DANES

(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright.)

(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, October 6. Disturbances in Greece and Thrace, according to reports reaching: Istanbul, amount almost to rebellion. Bands of Greeks, with machineguns and the support of local inhabitants, are attacking detachments of Bulgarians, principally in the Drama region, compelling the Bulgarians to send reinforcements to the district. Moscow radio quotes a report from Sofia that several hundred Greek guerrillas penetrated Bulgarian Macedonia and engaged the Bulgarians in a pitched battle. Many were killed and wounded on both'sides. TENSION DEVELOPS. Czech circles in London say that strong tension has developed, between Baron yon Neurath's administrative machine and Heydrich's Gestapo in the Czech Protectorate. Heydrich styles himself "Protector," not "Deputy," and has occupied the Presidential Palace. The Gestapo has occupied the headquarters of General Elias's Government, paralysing the administration of the Protectorate. The miners at Rosice and Oslavan have decreased production by 65 per cent, since July. Unrest, is increasing in the districts of Cladno and Moravska-Ostrava. The International^ Transport Workers' Federation says that reports from Europe show famine everywhere under the swastika. The German occupation of Holland and Denmark meant starvation for thousands. Under half the Dutch workers can afford to buy their food rations. j HUNGER IN DENMARK. | It is officially admitted that in Denmark many families are hungry because only the most skilled workers j can earn enough to buy full rations, j I The Germans, realising that this state of affairs decreases production, are now introducing coupon-free breakfasts for war workers. i An American who has arrived in Cairo from Zagreb says that the plan ito enthrone the Duke of Spoleto in Croatia is definitely abandoned because of the Duke's unwillingness to face almost certain attempts at assassination. His wife, Irene of Greece, refused to go to Croatia as his consort.
