STILL OPPOSED

THE DOCTORS BILL

AUCKLAND PRACTITIONERS

(0.C.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A decision that the Social Security Amendment Bill was still I unacceptable was reached by a meeting of 'he Auckland Division of the British Medical Association i last night. Dr. L. Gordon Drury, president of the division, presided. The meeting further affirmed that the Bill did not provide for any improvement in the health services of the Dominion, other than making the general practitioner's services less costly to the individual, and the meeting called on the Government to set up a non-politica) commission to go fully into the question of more ade- ! quate preventive medicine in New Zealand. Special attention, it was urged, ] should be given to protection against tuberculosis, diphtheria, scarlet fever, hydatids, and to the question of supplying suitable foods at prices within the reach of the people.
