FUND FOR COMFORTS FOR SEAMEN

When Sir Evelyn Wrench was in Wellington he and Lady Wrench were entertained at a social gathering in the Pioneer Clubroomsby Sir Michael and Lady Myers. The object of the gathering was to revive the Wellington branch of the Overseas League, and after stimulating addresses-being given by the visitors, this was decided upon. Subsequently a general meeting of niembers was held, when .the following officers were elected:—Presi* dent, Sir Michael Myers; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. H. Kirkcaldie, Messrs. E. W. Hunt, S. E. Lambert, Gordon Reid, M. Marks, and H. A. Gold; chairman and hon. corresponding secretary, Mr. Will Appleton; executive; Mesdames H. 'Kirkcaldie, C. Nichols, and Miss M. Butler, Messrs. E. W. Hunt, A. Sutherland, P. T. Palmer, S. E. Lambert, P. McLean, and.G. C. Claridge; social committee, Mesdames Gordon Reid, -W..E. A. Gill, Knox Gilmer, L.j W. Griffiths, A. Sutherland, E. W. Hunt, 'C. Nichols, C. Fuller, W. Appleton, Misses R. Putnam, and M. ■ Price,. Messrs. Gordon Reid, M. Dennehy, and R,' Darroch; social secretary, Miss Sheila Price. Efforts are being made to collect funds to provide Christmas comforts for the men in the mine-sweeper and trawler service in Great Britain. Already one member, Mrs. L. W. Griffiths, ■ has collected £13 10s for 'this purpose, and this sum has been remitted to London.
