A Bucharest . communique says: "After bloody battles, ou r mountain troops and cavalry corps with the German's repulsed Russian attacks which employed superior numbers ol tanks and much heavy artillery. The Russian losses in our sector, are 60,000 taken prisoner, 70,000 dead, and 100,000 wounded. We shot down 553 planes for the loss of 120. We have taken prisoner 90 per cent, of Russian parachutists and terrorists who came down behind-our lines." A Budapest message says that the Russian guns on the lower . Dnieper are repeatedly shelling the Hungarian positions, but that all Russian attempts to cross the Dnieper to the western side failed.
