(To the Editor.)
Sir, —May I reply to "Fair Play's" letter? While serving in a large grocery store in the city a woman whom I knew was not one of our regular customers came in and asked for a certain brand of baking powder, which at the time we did not have, and I told her so. I was surprised and rather shocked at the reply, "Oh, well, I still have seven tins untouched." Now do you wonder at the storekeeper who endeavours to supply scarce lines only to his regular customers, Let the customers buy their necessary lines from their own regular suppliers. If everyone bought when the line was needed instead of stocking up there would be no shortage.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY TO ALL.
