• r A ceremonial review of the Lower • ■: : 'iiutt unit of the Home Guard was held ' yesterday morning on the Lower Hutt .Recreation Ground. -The battalionseven companies including the nlounted company—paraded under the commanding officer,'Jfiajitain J. W. Andrews, and was re^ifevVed by Brigadier N._W. McD. Weir, officer commanding the central military district. Brigadier Weir was met at the gate and escorted to the saluting base at which,.on his approach, the brigadier's flag was broken,' and the battalion .saluted. 'X. ~The. battalion then marched past, the salute being taken by the brigadier, who was accompanied at the base by Colonel A. E. Conway, adjutant of the district, and Lieut.-Colonel D. G. Johnston, area director of the Home Guard. The battalion was led by the Regimental Band. . The battalion then, to a slow inarch, approached the saluting base, and was addressed by Brigadier Weir, who congratulated the men on their steadiness and the great progress made in spite of the absence of equipment. A promise was given that the lack of -equipment would be remedied at an early date. .'• After the 'farewell salute an inspection was made of the battalion's signalling and other equipment—chiefly improvised ' i - The. guests, and members of the public who had been invited, among whom were the Hon. W. and Mrs. Nash, Mr. arid'Mrs. W. V. Dyer, and members and officers of the Lower Hutt City -Council and other local bodies, were entertained at morning tea by the ladies' committee of the Home Guard. ' There was a large attendance of the general public. j
