AUSTRALIAN LOAN

£100,000,000 CALLED FOR

The latest and largest Australian Commonwealth Government loan, amounting to £100,000,000, will be officially opened for subscription at a public function to take place at the Sydney Town Hall tomorrow. Of the total amount of the loan £70,000,000 is required for conversion of Common-

wealth securities maturing on November 15 next, and £30,000,000 for war purposes. The rates of interest of this loan will be 2_ per cent, for shortterm, 1945-46, and 3J per cent, for longterm, 1950-57, at the options of subscribers. Interest on the loan will be subject to full Commonwealth income tax, but exempt from State taxation. Commonwealth loans maturing November 15 next amount _to £74,079,100. Other early maturing loans are 33 per cent. .£22,994,745, repayable December 15, 1942, and 3£ per cent. £13,285,500, repayable August 15, 1943.
