AMERICAN INFANTRY

ARRIVAL IN ICELAND

REYKJAVIK, October 2,

The first contingent of American infantry has arrived here. It is understood that the command of the AngloAmerican forces will be on the basis of mutual co-operation, with- the British as the predominant partner. An immense quantity of fine American equipment has been unloaded, including lorries, cars, artillery, antitank guns, building materials, and cranes.

The first U.S. units in Iceland were naval forces.
