1.L.0. CONFERENCE IN NEW YORK

RUGBY, October 2. '

The International Labour Office conference to be held in Columbia University, New York, commencing on October 27, will discuss the report of the acting director, Mr. E. J. Phelan, who has been in charge of the office since the appointment of" the former director, Mr. J. G. Winant,. to be American Ambassador to London. It will also discuss a report on methods of collaboration between governments and employers' and workers' organisations. The British delegation will be:— Government delegates: Mr. Ralph Assheton, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour, and Sir Frederick Leggett, chief industrial commissioner to the Ministry of Labour. Employers' delegate: Sir John Forbes Watson, director of the British Employers' Confederation. Workers' delegate: Mr. Joseph Hallsworth, a member of the Trades Union Congress general council.—B.O.W.
