SUPPLIES FOR SOVIET

DUTCH EAST INDIES

(Rec. 9 a.m.) BATAVIA, Oct. 2. The Netherlands East Indies, for some weeks past, has been adding to the flow of materials to Russia. Soviet ships have taken rubber, oil, and tin at Surabaya and sailed to Vladivostok. Immediately after the outbreak of the German-Russian war exporters here attempted to make contact with the Russian authorities, but did not succeed.

Direct transactions between Moscow and Batavia must, apparently, be carried out through London, for financial reasons.
